Why it works

Every licensed freight broker must keep a $75,000 financial security on file with FMCSA: a BMC-84 surety bond or a BMC-85 trust fund. It exists to pay carriers when brokers don't. A clean, documented claim to the surety gets attention. Brokers know that, so a demand letter naming their surety often shakes the check loose.
